Overview of SC Modeler 4.1

SC Modeler 4.1 is a comprehensive tool for the conceptual design, visualization, and analysis of satellite networks, from small-scale to multi-layered mega-constellations. Its integrated modeling environment enables rapid development and performance comparison of design alternatives.

Constellation Design & Orbit Propagation

Define orbital parameters with Constellation Editor, use Constellation Design modules, or import and auto-refresh TLE data; approaches are combinable.

  • • Two-Body Keplerian propagator
  • • J2 Perturbations (no drag)
  • • SGP4/SDP4 orbit propagators
2D/3D Visualization

Interactive 2D/3D constellation views with simulation-driven animation. Adjust viewpoints, rotate, zoom, and examine from satellite or ground station perspectives.

  • • Static & animated views
  • • Multiple viewpoint options
  • • Conjunction Visualization
Routing & Connectivity

Hierarchical routing algorithms for fast, accurate shortest path search. Evaluate visibility and path delays for any pair of satellite network nodes.

Real-time Simulations

Generate dynamic charts, histograms, and reports during fast-time or real-time simulations. Continuously monitor performance metrics.

  • • Live data visualization
  • • Min/Max/Avg time series
  • • Frequency and cumulative histograms
Access Constraints

Define Earth observation sensors, uplinks, or downlinks with conic, rectangular, or custom fields of view. Specify clearance and range constraints for ISLs.

  • • Elevation-azimuth mask
  • • Boresight orientation
  • • Hop count constraint
Model Configuration

Efficient tools for managing model properties, constellation parameters, and sensor configurations, enabling rapid modeling scenario setup.

  • • Session history navigation
  • • Design results database storage
  • • Analysis results in exportable format

Notes:
Some advanced capabilities listed above are available through optional Add-On Modules (more).
AVM Dynamics does not supply TLE data. To download and automatically update TLE datasets, a Space-Track (space-track.org) account is required.

Add-On Modules

The software features a collection of modules created to deliver efficient solutions for complex constellation design and analysis needs.

Constellation Design Modules

Generate efficient designs for global or zonal, continuous or periodic coverage using optimized algorithms. Supports "Walker Delta," "Streets of Coverage," and advanced kinematic patterns with circular or elliptical orbits.(more…)

Coverage Analysis Modules

Analyze continuous or periodic coverage and create interactive reports summarizing satellite availability, revisit times, and coverage gaps for user-defined regions.(more…)

Constraints Analysis Module

For continuous coverage constellations, determine latitude-specific ground elevation angles and satellite sensor fields of view to achieve desired coverage levels (single, double, triple, etc.).(more…)

Network Topology & Routing Tools

Define potential intra- and interplane links with flexible time-based rules. Fine-tune connectivity and ground-satellite links using the interactive Matrix Editor, and configure routing policies and algorithms with the Routing Settings Tool.(more…)

Interference & EPFD Analysis

Evaluate GSO/non-GSO interference and compliance with Radio Regulations using separation angle and Equivalent Power Flux Density (EPFD) analysis.(more…)

Network Traffic Analysis

Estimate traffic volume on intersatellite and ground-satellite links for selected routing policies, optimizing network performance.(more…)

Data Privacy & Security

SC Modeler and its add-ons run entirely as a standalone desktop/laptop application. All simulations and results remain fully under user control and are stored locally or in user-managed databases; no external cloud storage is used. Licensing is managed via CodeMeter (WIBU-Systems software); no user data is transmitted externally. Optional TLE updates involve sending your Space-Track credentials directly to space-track.org; no other data is transmitted externally. Federal users should note that SC Modeler is not subject to FedRAMP authorization, but agencies may perform internal IT security reviews, including vulnerability assessments, patch checks, and compliance with internal policies, before deploying the software.
